Definition
Light emitting diodes, or LEDs, are small Led light sources illuminated by the movement of electrons through a semiconductor material.
Energy Efficiency
LED Lights produce more light per watt than incandescent bulbs, making Led lighting exceptionally energy efficient. In fact, many LED Products use up to 90 percent less energy than an incandescent bulb to produce the same amount of light. The energy efficiency of LED light rival the most efficient light sources.
Commom Applications
LED Lighting are a directional light source that point light a specific way, unlike incandescent bulbs which emit light in all directions. Much of the light produced by incandescent bulbs can be lost within the light fixture or reabsorbed by the lamp. For many fixture types, including recessed down lights, fluorescent lighting units, and under-cabinet fixtures, it is common for 40-50 percent of the total light output of the lamp to be lost before it even exits the fixture. Because LED lights are directional lighting, the Led lamps are especially useful for task lighting, such as under cabinets, in hallways and in recessed and down light fixtures. They also perform well when subjected to frequent on-off cycling.
Color Quality
Most people still expect LED Light to cast a cool, bluish light, but technology has improved. When introduced to the market, LED Lights produced a cold light because of high correlated colortemperatures (CCTs), often above 5000 Kelvin(K). These days, warm white LED Lighting with CCTs ranging from 2600K to 3500K, have significantly improved. Cost LED Bulbs are more expensive, per lumen, than more conventional lighting technologies. However, because LED bulbs are designed to have a long life, reporting approximately 35,000 to 50,000 hours of useful life, LED Lights far surpass incandescent or halogen sources in terms of cost over the course of its life.
THE BENEFITS OF LED LIGHTING
YunZhen’s Led lighting systems are more energy efficient and environmentally friendly then ever before. Hazardous materials such as Mercury are widely used in Fluorescents and CFL. Environmental regulators require this waste to be managed properly and disposed according to federal lows. Failure to follow these regulations could result in costly penalties and other environmental liabilities.

Flourescent Tubes - A Little Background

Fluorescent tubes are low-pressure Mercury vapor discharge lamps which produce UV light. The UV light hits the wall of a glass tube which is covered with Phosphor. The Phosphor absorbs the UV light and transforms it to visible white light. The lamp needs high voltage to start the discharge, and a device that limits the current during operation. Most FL lamps have therefore ballast and a starter, in newer lamps These functions can be performed by electronic circuits (more expensive).
Main Disadvantages
• Mercury Poisoning. If an FL tube or CFL breaks, the whole building and its A/C ducts need to be cleaned (recommendation by EPA).
• The Light Is Not Comfortable. Only some of the energy transformed to light, the rest is HEAT, UV and unnatural light spectrum. The light is pulsing with the main frequency (50/60Hz). Especially when many tubes are connected to only one power, the light feels uncomfortable and can cause health problems.
• Questionable Energy Saving and Life Expectancy. An inductive kick from the ballast provides high voltage pulse to start the lamp. If the lamp is frequently switched on and off, the energy saving of the FL tube and CFL’s are very limited. On top of it the tubes will age rapidly.
• Low Power Factor In buildings where many tubes are installed the capacitive and inductive electricity wave will be unsynchronized. For more the 500 tubes, a special power controller is needed to correct this problem.
• Noisy Operational Some FL lights create continues noise (Hamming) during operation, it maybe disturbing in places like schools and hospitals.
Less Power Consumption An LED consumes only about 35 - 50% of the power an FL tube needs to produce an equivalent illumination.
No poisonous substances in LED tubes. FL tubes and CFL lamps contain Mercury Recycling of LED tubes is possibleFL tubes and CFL lamps are hazardous waste, cannot be recycled; LED tubes contain valuable raw material which can be re-used, e.g., Aluminum, Plastic, etc.
LED LIGHT DIRECTIONAL
While FL tubes and conventional light bulbs distribute their light all around, LED light is directed to an angle of 120°. Luminaries are designed to shade off the non-useful portions. For example:For a lamp that illuminates a working area from above, only the fraction of the light that hits theworking area is useful. All other light is lost – radiated in other directions. When comparing the lumen, an FL tube needs to produce much more light to achieve the same illumination on a flatsurface. Since in most cases 2/3 of the light of an FL tube is lost that way, an LED tube onlyneeds 1/3 of the lumens to achieve the same illumination.
ECONOMY AND ROI LED
Grid Fixtures are expensive, more than the price of FL tubes Aside of the environmental ad-vantages; LED tubes return profit in the following cases: Long operation hours where the power savings justify the higher price e.g., large retailers, parking garages, hospitals, replacing all FL tubes with LED Grid fixture, the ROI may be as low as 1 - 2 years. Frequent light switching FL tubes do not like switching, their lifetime declines sharply withfrequent switching e.g., automatic staircase lights, elevator lights Difficult locations Where the costs of exchange are substantial e.g., high ceilings, factorylighting. Carbon Tax saving, Reduction in the CO2 emission will reduce Carbon Tax liability.
